5. To provide privacy for users, only the registered user and their parent/guardian are allowed at the workstation during the reserved time.

6. Users are limited to standard Internet services: The World Wide Web, Gopher Servers, File Transfer Protocol, Usenet, and Telnet. Use of chat rooms is not permitted without specific permission from the librarian in charge, due to the potential hazards or participation in these arenas. Access to some services is limited by the Library's Internet service provider.

7. Users will access the World Wide Web via Internet Explorer, using the search tools provided by the browser program. The Alhambra Public Library cannot monitor or control the information accessed through the Internet, and cannot be held responsible for its content. As with other library materials, restriction of a child's access to the Internet is the responsibility of the parent or legal guardian. The Library does have Bookmarks set up that are of particular use and interest to Children, along with some other helpful indexes and lists of Web Sites. Some software security measures have been implemented to focus access on research and useful topics, but we urge users to rely on the resources created by the library, and follow the guidelines for online safety suggested by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

8. Abuse or misuse of equipment, software or policies will be grounds for revocation of privileges or possible legal action. The first offense will result in a one month suspension. A second offense will result in a phone call to the user's parents and a suspension of privileges until the beginning of the next school year. Repeated abuse or violation of the Library's policies will result in indefinite suspension of privileges.

The Alhambra Public Library Internet workstation is a public resource, that will provide users with a wide variety of information. The policies here stated are designed to ensure easy and safe access to the service by children. Please read our Internet Policy and Children's Internet Use Agreement.
