VOLUNTEEN PROGRAM IN THE CHILDREN'S ROOM

Teens are an important part of the Alhambra Public Library Volunteen team.

Volunteering is a great way for teens to get insight into various Library careers, or simply to make a positive impact in the community.

What is Volunteen?

If you're a teenager interested in volunteer service, then Alhambra Public Library Volunteen is the program for you! Volunteen is a great way for teenagers to find ongoing volunteer opportunities both during the school year and during the summer months.

Teen Volunteer Requirements

• 13 to 17 years of age.

• Minimum three-month commitment - six months or more preferred.

• Regular schedule is required for many positions (weekly or every other week).

Your Commitment

Please consider carefully whether this time commitment will fit your schedule or other life commitments. You must have the willingness and ability to make a commitment to your volunteer assignment. The Children's Department you volunteer in depends on you. We welcome students and recognize that you have changing schedule needs. We will do our best to work with you to accommodate these needs.

Volunteering can be a fun activity and very rewarding, but it also is very serious. Volunteering requires that you be willing to learn, work hard, be responsible and be open to new experiences.

The Process for Becoming a Volunteer

• Complete a teen volunteer application. Applications are available upon request at the Children's Room or during registration time at the Young Adult Section.

• Schedule an interview with the Children's Librarian. Day and evening appointments are available.

• Attend a new volunteer orientation/training. All volunteers must complete orientation, and the requirements that come with it. Orientations are offered at various times.
