Your Commitment
Please consider carefully whether
this time commitment will fit your schedule or other life commitments. You must
have the willingness and ability to make a commitment to your volunteer
assignment. The Children's Department you volunteer in depends on you. We
welcome students and recognize that you have changing schedule needs. We will do
our best to work with you to accommodate these needs.
Volunteering can be a fun activity
and very rewarding, but it also is very serious. Volunteering requires that you
be willing to learn, work hard, be responsible and be open to new experiences.
The Process for Becoming a Volunteer
• Complete a teen volunteer
application. Applications are available upon request at the Children's Room
or during registration time at the Young Adult Section.
• Schedule an interview with
the Children's Librarian. Day and evening appointments are available.
• Attend a new volunteer
orientation/training. All volunteers must complete orientation, and the
requirements that come with it. Orientations are offered at various times.
