Join us for an epic celebration of Banned Books Week for all ages! We'll have two events in Reese Hall and everyone can participate!
Cookbook Club Banned Books Themed Cook-Off (11am)
Choose any dish--sweet or savory--that fits in with our Banned Book theme. Try your hand at "James and the Giant Peach Pie" or "Catcher in the Rye Bread." Bring your dish for patrons to taste, and the winners will receive a great prize! Categories for voting will be best savory dish, best sweet dish, and best overall use of the theme. Register now at the 2nd Floor Reference Desk or call (626) 570-5079 x 1.

Entries must be at the Library by 11am. Tasting begins at 12pm!
Don't Judge a Book by Its Cover (12 pm)
While you're tasting the Cookbook Club's tasty treats, peruse our paper-wrapped banned books. Each book has been wrapped to hide its cover so you won't be able to judge it based on what it looks like. All you'll see is a brief description of the book, and some of the reasons it was banned or challenged. You select the book without seeing the cover, take it to the front desk to check it out, and then you can unwrap it to see what you'll be taking home. We'll have books for all ages--adults, teens, and children!
