A. Ownership
The City of Alhambra and the Alhambra Library are the sole owners of the sewing machine kits and related MakerLab program equipment. By participating in the Ready, Set, Sew, six (6)-week program series, I acknowledge that I am borrowing library-owned equipment and utilizing MakerLab resources.

 

B. Compliance
I reviewed, understand, and agree to comply with the Library Ready, Set, Sew Program Policy, MakerLab rules and procedures, and Library Behavior Policy.

 

Rules and Terms for Participation

To participate in the Ready, Set, Sew program, I agree to the following:

  1. My participation in the program is entirely voluntary. I agree to release, hold harmless, defend, and indemnify the City of Alhambra, the Alhambra Library, and its officials, employees, and volunteers from any claims, damages, injuries, or losses arising from my participation in the program, except as otherwise provided by law.
  2. As a student of Ready, Set, Sew, I am assigned one (1) Library Sewing Machine Kit. I understand that a valid library card in good standing is required to borrow the kit. Only one kit per program term is allowed per cardholder.
  3. This is a six week, no participation fee program. My registered term is (July 26 – September 5). At the end of this term, I agree to return the sewing machine kit in satisfactory condition (normal wear, tear, consumable use excepted) and relinquish my use of the MakerLab space.
  4. I will attend all six (6) assigned mandatory classes, as indicated in the application and policy. Failure to do so may result in my removal from the group and immediate return of the sewing machine kit.
  5. Projects created with the sewing machine kit during the Ready, Set, Sew workshops are for personal, non-commercial use only.
  6. I will report any theft or vandalism of library equipment and property immediately to the Library at makerlab@alhambralibrary.org. I will also use this email address for all Ready, Set, Sew program related communications.
  7. I will not modify, personalize, or alter my assigned sewing machine and related kit items. I will not make unauthorized repairs or augmentations to the sewing machine and equipment in the MakerLab.
  8. I will bring the sewing machine kit to each class session. I understand I can take the kit home to complete or extend my sewing projects.
  9. I understand that I am responsible for the care, safekeeping, and proper use of the sewing machine kit. Said use and responsibility are not transferable to any other individual.
  10. I agree to maintain my sewing machine kit in a clean and debris-free condition for the entire duration of the program term.
  11. I will not borrow, take, or make any exchanges/substitutions from another participant’s kit.
  12. I understand I will be responsible for replacement costs for lost, stolen, or damaged items resulting from misuse, negligence, or failure to return the borrowed equipment.
  13. I will maintain, transport, and store my own sewing projects. The Library will not store them on my behalf.
  14. I certify I am fourteen (14) years of age and older. All participants under eighteen (18) must include an accompanying parent/guardian signature prior to receiving the sewing machine kit.
  15. I confirm that I am an Alhambra resident/patron with a valid Alhambra Library card in good standing, with proof of current address.
  16. The Ready, Set, Sew workshop term is six (6) weeks and will not be extended without explicit direction from Library Administration.
  17. My access to the MakerLab is restricted to the posted class sessions only.
  18. I understand that my time in the MakerLab is designated solely for the Ready, Set, Sew program.
  19. I will take appropriate safety precautions while in the MakerLab and while operating the sewing machines.
  20. I acknowledge that the Alhambra Library is not liable for any injuries that I may sustain while in the MakerLab or while using the equipment.
  21. I acknowledge that Alhambra Library reserves the right to make all final decisions regarding the Ready, Set, Sew program. This may include, but is not limited to, the right to interpret, modify, amend, suspend, or terminate any part of the program and associated/applicable policies with or without prior notice. I agree to abide by the most current version of the policy as determined by the library.

 

Violations of Policy

  1. I acknowledge that violating any Ready, Set, Sew policy may result in my removal from the program, and my MakerLab privileges will cease.
  2. I understand that the Alhambra Library reserves the right to terminate this user agreement at any time during the term without notice.
