Join us for an International Workers' Day Celebration that includes a Labor Rights Workshop by the Neighborhood Legal Services of Los Angeles (NLSLA) and a film screening presented by Chinatown Service Center.
We’ll kick things off with an insightful workshop providing a practical introduction to workplace rights and local resources, followed by a community movie screening celebrating the humor, struggles, and spirit of the workforce. Whether you're looking to learn about your rights or simply enjoy a great film with family and friends, come watch, learn, and connect at this empowering evening of film, conversation, and community.
About the film:
We Were Smart (2019), is a documentary by director Li Yifan that explores the "Shamate" subculture—marginalized, rural-to-urban migrant workers in China known for flamboyant, punk-inspired hairstyles.
